Sensitization of NURTW Members on Measles-Rubella Vaccination in Niger State

The Health Promotion Unit of the Niger State Ministry of Primary Health Care, in collaboration with C-WINS, UNICEF, CHAI, CHIGARI Foundation, and other development partners, held a one-day sensitization meeting with the Niger State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) on Tuesday, 26th August 2025, in Minna.
The interactive session focused on:
- Raising awareness about Measles and Rubella diseases and their associated risks.
- Highlighting the benefits of the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine in protecting children against complications.
- Addressing questions and concerns from transport workers regarding the MR vaccine and routine immunization.
Over 1,000 drivers and transport workers were engaged in sensitization efforts. This milestone is important because NURTW members are strategically placed to spread vital health information to their families and the wider community that depends on their services.
This partnership will enable transport operators to serve as community advocates, emphasizing the significance of vaccination and helpi ng to ensure the success of the upcoming Measles-Rubella campaign throughout Niger State.
