Advocacy Visit to Archbishop Kaigama for Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign
Â
As part of ongoing national efforts to strengthen immunization uptake, members of the Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) Working Group paid an advocacy visit to His Grace, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja.
The delegation—comprising representatives from UNICEF, WHO, JSI, IVAC, and the FCT Primary Healthcare Board—engaged the Archbishop on the forthcoming Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign scheduled to begin in October 2025.
The advocacy team highlighted the dangers of Measles and Rubella, especially the devastating effects of Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS), and the need for strong faith-based support to mobilize communities, promote vaccine uptake, and combat misinformation.
We sincerely appreciate Archbishop Kaigama’s warm reception and his commitment to promoting child health and well-being through the powerful platform of the Church. His leadership and public endorsement will be critical in building trust among Catholic faithful nationwide.
Together, with the Church and our partners, we can protect every child from vaccine-preventable diseases.Â
