C-WINS Partners with NCWS to Raise Awareness on Rubella Disease and Support National MR Vaccination Campaign
As part of its continuous effort to promote community health and increase routine immunization uptake, the Centre for Well-being and Integrated Nutrition Solutions (C-WINS) on April 30, 2025 engaged with the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) during its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.
The high-level advocacy meeting brought together Presidents and Secretaries of NCWS chapters from across Nigeria. During the engagement, C-WINS sensitized participants on the dangers of Rubella disease, the importance of the upcoming Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign, and the critical role women play in community mobilization and health advocacy.
C-WINS Head of Mission, Dr Mahmud Mustafa, speaking at the event, emphasized the urgency of protecting Nigerian children against vaccine-preventable diseases, particularly Rubella, which can cause severe birth defects if contracted by pregnant women.
“The role of NCWS in reaching grassroots women and households is unmatched. We urge you to champion this cause in your communities by raising awareness and ensuring every child is vaccinated,” she stated.
C-WINS urged NCWS leadership to mobilize women groups and households in their respective states to actively participate in the MR vaccination campaign. The organization reiterated its commitment to working with strategic partners to drive inclusive and equitable health outcomes.
This partnership with NCWS signifies another key step toward achieving universal immunization coverage and reducing child morbidity and mortality from preventable diseases.
