On 17th June 2025, the C-WINS team paid a high-level advocacy visit to His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Yahaya Abubakar CFR, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, at his palace in Bida, Niger State.

The visit aimed to seek the support of traditional leadership for the upcoming Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign, set to begin in October 2025, targeting children aged 9 months to 14 years. The Etsu Nupe expressed his commitment to mobilizing communities and raising awareness around this vital public health effort.

C-WINS recognizes the critical role of traditional leaders in influencing positive health behavior, especially in ensuring acceptance and uptake of vaccines at the grassroots level.
